colonel mustard...

It seems a lot of my fall purchases have incidently been from the brand Pink Martini (they're a Canadian label!)- this sweater being one of those items. I'd have to say this wrap knit cardigan is easily winning out for my favourite sweater right now. I love this mustard colour that seems to be going with anything in my wardrobe lately- it definitely tops my list of favourite fall colours.

The Outfit  Sweater (Pink Martini- Je Suis Prest) | Shoes (Aldo) | Blouse (Mink Pink- Je Suis Prest) Purse (Fossil- Manchester Shoes) | Necklace (Maison Scotch- Envy) | Earrings (Joe Fresh)- similar
Jeans (7 for All Mankind- Envy)

I can't believe it's Thursday already! This week has flown by- which is just fine by me since I have plans I've been really looking forward to! I'm heading to Moncton this weekend to visit my sister and attend the wine fair with some of my very lovely girl friends (who are travelling from over from Fredericton and Halifax). My weekend is going to be all about catching up, laughing over inside jokes, and sipping some wine- can't wait!

What's your plans for the weekend?

Indian Summer...

A couple of weeks ago the heat spiked and we went from autumn back to summer weather. With my summer wardrobe already packed away, I was left with limited choices. I was also probably one of the few people in the city who wasn't particularly appreciating this border-line heat wave. You couldn't even enjoy a walk around the Irving Nature Park without practically dehydrating yourself. After all, I was geared up with new fall items I'd rather wear! And this sheer striped blouse would be one of my favourites.

Click the links below to see where you can the find some of these items online.

The Outfit  Shirt: Mink Pink- Je Suis Prest Boutique | Shorts: Old Navy | Sandals- Sam Edelman
Purse: Fossil- Manchester Shoe Salon | Bracelet: ESquared- Silver Daisy Designs
Scarf (as headband): Coach

The next big walk I plan to take is uptown this Friday for the Gallery Hop! However, walking from gallery to gallery might require a few more layers now that the temperatures are starting to drop below 10 degrees (Celsius).

Will I be seeing you Friday for the last gallery hop of 2011?
Please comment below if you will be out and about Friday night for the Gallery Hop in Saint John. If you aren't from Saint John, any comments are welcome and appreciated, so please do feel free to drop a note just to say hi! I'd love to hear from you.

i love coco...

...is what my Maison Scotch t-shirt reads. This is what broke the straw off the camel's back and caused me to spoil my shopping fast. (So I guess it's fair to say it was more of a shopping diet...) Maison Scotch is a new favourite brand of mine (found within the confines of Envy), with their cute t-shirts, button-ups, and blazers- each having a unique, quirky add-on to the piece (whether it be a necklace, handkerchief pocket square, or bow tie). In this case, my Chanel lovin' tee came with the dandelion necklace that hangs around my neck in the photos below.

Finally, my hair is long enough that I can pull it into a ponytail or a bun without stick a million bobby pins into my scalp. I'm really only growing it out for the purpose of a wedding day updo- only to have it chopped off again. When it get's this long, it's harder to hold a curl, and becomes a big mass that just gets in my face, therefore I spend most of my time wearing it up. Keeping it shorter makes me accountable for actually styling my hair and not defaulting to the easy way out. This look I like to call my ballerina hair-do. Keep in mind that I'm neither graceful nor did my ballet training extend past the age of 4.

The Outfit

T-shirt: Maison Scotch- Envy (SJ, Apr '11)
Cardigan: Kensie- Je Suis Prest Boutique (SJ, Dec '09)
Jeggings: Guess- Envy (SJ, Dec '10)
Flats: Blowfish- Little Burgundy (Toronto, May '09)
Purse: Fossil- Manchester (gifted from B, Dec '10)

Loitering outside the bottom entrance of the Alehouse, this outfit I wore on a wedding-errand Saturday with B. We had just embarked on an early supper, having visited floral designer Sandra Miller to pick out and plan flowers for the wedding and completed the task of registering at Decor8 in Brunswick Square (we also registered at Sears). Tuesday afternoon we head out to Rothesay to round out our wedding registries with PGal's Closet!

coffee dates...

As you can see, these outfit shots were taken before the snow melted...thank goodness it's gone! It's almost like an ugly memory to see it in the background for this post! This outfit I wore on a typical Saturday morning: heading uptown and grabbing coffee at Starbucks. That's what you'll find me doing most Saturdays, despite the time of year!

The Outfit
  • Sweater: American Eagle (SJ, Sept '09)
  • Tank: Jack- Je Suis Prest Boutique (SJ, Feb '11)
  • Jeggings: Guess- Envy (SJ, Dec '10)
  • Boots- Aldo (gifted from parents, Dec ;09)
  • Purse: Fossil- Manchester Shoe Salon (gifted from B, Dec '10)
  • Necklace: Aldo (Toronto, June '10)

These boots along with my black ones have been my footwear MVPs this winter- they keep my feet warm and dry and can be dressed up or down so easily! As much as I love my boots, I'm happy to start wearing more of my other shoes again. Socks are really only a seasonal item for me...once it's warm enough, I tuck them in my drawer and leave 'em there until the weather gets cold again. I've already been wear flats and no socks...so happy to finally see Spring!

I think I wore this particular outfit the day a bunch of us sipped on lattes and divied up our group We Love Colors order. Coffee dates are the friendly meet and greets that frequent my schedule. You know you might be at Starbucks a little often when they remember your order at more than one location...

soon to be in a sea of needles...

Does anyone still have their Christmas tree up? No? I'm the only one?

Ok, so my laziness has gotten the better of me. Well, and it's been a busy start to the new year, but I can't say I'm looking forward to that rain shower of fir needles when we go to move the tree. I swear, I look at this tree and it sheds needles in response. Anyways, that's the mission for...tonight. (We've been saying that since, well, Sunday.)

In today's outfit post I'm sporting a few things that Santa left under the tree for me!...a warm North Face jacket with a faux fur trimmed hood, a brown/bronze crossbody Fossil purse, and a brown cowl neck C'est Moi sweater. The first few outdoor shots were taken outside Urban Deli on the first day of shopping after Christmas. B was brave enough to hit the stores with me in search of some sweet Boxing Day sales and then we popped into the Urban Deli for lunch.

And here's the rest of the outfit, sans jacket...
The Outfit
  • Coat- North Face (Christmas gift from parents, Dec '10)
  • Crossbody purse- Fossil- Manchester Shoe Salon (Christmas gift from B, Dec '10)
  • Sweater- C'est Moi- Je Suis Prest Boutique (Christmas gift from my sister, Dec '10)
  • Vest- American Eagle (SJ, Fall '09)
  • Jeans- Dish Jeans- Pseudio (SJ, Fall '09)
  • Boots- Aldo (Christmas gift from parents, Dec '09)

Oh! And I have to make one modification to my New Years Resolutions. I still plan to colour/highlight my hair, but I can't do anything too wild or edgy for a cut just yet...I forgot that I need to keep a more classic cut until my wedding day in June!

How are you all making out with your resolutions? Please, do share!

TTFF (5): Bag it and bring it...

Top Trends: Fall Fashion (Post #5)

A style of purses that have been big this fall would be the cross-body bag, specifically the satchel or hobo. They often have shorter handles so that it may also be carried as a hand bag but the longer strap allows the bag to be slung diagonally across the body so that the strap sits on one shoulder and the bag rests again the opposite hip. We women do so many wear-and-tear things to our body in the name of fashion, but for once, here's a trend with a biomechanical perk. If the long strap option, the weight is balanced on both sides and we're hands free for once!

Cross-body Classics

(L to R)

Last month I picked up a hobo cross-body bag from Coach's Kristen collection. I'm a girl on a budget, but I really wanted a Coach cross-body bag and conveniently I had a 25% off invite that I was itching to use. It's my favourite purse (and not just because it's brand spanking new)- the added benefit of being hands free and not having to constantly readjust my hold on my bag is an added bonus I didn't know I was living without.

What's your favourite purse you currently carry?
