bonne fete...

Last Tuesday I leaped into my late 20s...officially. I had dinner with friends and B at the Alehouse in my current favourite dress. When I tried this BB Dakota number on earlier this month in Je Suis Prest, it was the perfect fit. And I just couldn't say no to the pink blazer below when I spotted it in Envy that same Saturday afternoon!

Last week was a busy week! One of the many things on my to-do list was attending Industry Night in Riverview on Thursday evening- and I may have worn the pink blazer again! (It's not that bad to rewear within the week it's not the same group of people, right?) Anyways, I have to say that Saint John dominated in attendance at this event! We all had the opportunity to chat about how Atlantic Canada is viewed as a fashion market and talk about the potential and need for growth of the fashion industry in New Brunswick (especially considering the Maritimes are host to 3 design schools)!

four leaf formal...

Weekend before last, B and I headed up to Fredericton to join some of our friends in attending the annual Four Leaf Formal. Being the 5th year for the event, the formal was hosted at the ballroom of the Delta Fredericton and proceeds were donated to Chrohns and Colitis research. Always hosted in downtown Fredericton around St. Patrick's Day, funds raised in previous years have always been donated to important health research, with over $3000 donated last year toward colon cancer research.

My lovely ladies: (L to R): me, Jess, Jenny, Christine
The Outfit
  • Dress- Fumblin' Foe (Toronto, Sept '08)
  • Pantyhose- American Apparel (Halifax, Winter '07)
  • Shoes- Steve Madden- The Urban Shoe Myth (SJ, Mar '11)
  • Necklace- Swarovski (gifted from B, Feb '10)
  • Bracelet- Banana Republic (Freeport, Nov '10)

In previous years I've always used the event as an excuse to buy a new dress, but this year I decided I should probably choose one from my...uh...already overflowing closet. I have no shortage of green dresses (given it's my favourite colour), so I was all set!

With these heels I'm newly obsessed with from The Urban Shoe Myth, I lingered near 6'0" (I'm normally only 5'7")! Haha, I like feeling like a giant!

military profile...

For ladies who caught onto the military and utilitarian trends this past fall, you'll be happy to know that they continue to be right-on trend for spring! You'll be able to mix your olives and khakis, your pocketed shirts and skinny cargo pants with lighter layers once the cold weather ceases and the snow starts to melt!

I love the versatility of this snap-up military green top I got from Mango last spring...depending on what I choose to pair it with, it's been suited for all seasons!

The Outfit
  • Military shirt: Mango (Toronto, June '10)
  • Tank top: Abercrombie (Bangor, Nov '09)
  • Pants: Ricki's (SJ, Dec '09)
  • Shoes: Nine West (Freeport, Nov '10)
  • Belt: American Eagle (SJ, 6-7 yrs ago)
  • Necklace: Swarovski (gifted from B, Feb '10)

Again, I apologize that you are staring at my living room wall again! These pictures were from last week. As I mentioned earlier this week, I'm making it my mission to seek out new backdrops where I can still seek shelter from the elements!

Mother Nature's mood swings...

The rain is seriously putting a damper on the Holiday cheer. Everytime it snows, it seems that Mother Nature follows up with a rainfall to wash the seasonal decor away. If it's not within a few hours, it'll happen within 24. I can maintain all the other decorations I have put up: the outdoor lights, the garland, the holly-adorned centerpiece; just not the finishing touch: the snow. Come on, it's the only time of the year I tolerate the otherwise evil S-word (haha). One day there's snow in the background of my pictures...the next day I need to seek shelter with my camera because it's raining cats and dogs...

I have to say, the 30 for 30 Challenge has indeed been a challenge for me! I tend to be running out the door last minute, and sometimes it's not as easy to throw an outfit together under pressure when you have a limited number to choose from- I've been doing my best but I'll be glad to include the rest of my wardrobe again soon!

So, fellow remixers, have you found it easier or harder assembling outfits with only 30 to choose from?

utilitarian garden...

This week has been a busy blogging week- I've been trying to play catch up on my 30 for 30 posts, fighting a heavy chest and head cold, and meanwhile there's a lot of current fashionable happenings to cover! This has lead me to double up on blogging to cover all my current interests as well as posting  for Kendi's 30 for 30 fashion challenge I've been participating in.

Oh, and by the way, you should really check out some of my fellow remixers! (I plan to eventually do a post showcasing my favourite fellow remixers somewhere along this 30 outfit journey...it's on the long list of great blog post ideas I have been jotting down.)

For this outfit, I took a floral print summer dress and paired it with a military shirt, boots and tights to make it more seasonally appropriate. I wore this outfit Monday for a day of work and to attend the Customer Appreciation Event at Reflections Day Spa that evening.
