Work It Wednesday...

I decided to participate in the weekly "link-up" organized by fellow blogger, Jill of the Good Life (for Less). Entitled Work it Wednesdayyou show 1 style or garment applied in 3 different outfits. I decided, this week, to choose an element of style that I've been loving this fall: the tie neck blouse. If it was in my current budget, I'd love to own and wear a piece of Rachel Zoe's fall collection. So (using Polyvore) I've created 3 sets that show 3 entirely different ways to style the Rachel Zoe's Natalie plunge blouse for 3 different events:

Has a tie-neck blouse been on your list of fall must-haves?
Please feel free to leave your comment below to let me know what item is on the top your must-have list for Fall right now.

Check outwhat items Jill and other participating bloggers decided to work and remix this week for Work it Wednesday

sunlight, sun bright...

I'm so relieved to finally see nicer weather so that I can back outside to shoot my outfit photos! Though, I might add, the temperature could be a little warmer. I ascended the hill that Fort Howe sits on top of the other day and I can tell you it was a particularly windy day! The gusts kept blowing my tripod and camera over so that I would have to leap forward and grab the tripod before it hit the ground. Needless to say, it took a while before I got some good shots!

The Outfit
  • Brown top: Joe Fresh (SJ, Dec '10)
  • Green top: Joe Fresh (giveaway prize, Mar '11)
  • Trousers: ASOS (ordered online, Jan '11)
  • Belt: Michael Kors- TJ Maxx (New Hampshire, Apr '09)
  • Animal print flats: Nine West (Freeport, Nov '10)
  • Feather earrings: Little Burgundy (Montreal, June '10)

Thank you to everyone who has voted on yesterday's post to help me choose my green wedding shoes! If you didn't already have the opportunity to, I'd love to here your opinion. Click here to vote for your favourite from the 3 I've narrowed it down to! I'll be counting the votes until Sunday night and let you know which shoe was most popular on Monday!

underground...

Last Thursday marked the first official Saltys: Saint John's social media awards. It was large gathering at the Saint John Ale House to mix, mingle and announce the winners:

Twitter Person of the Year: Anne McShane @feelgoodsj (Owner of the Feel Good Store)
Best Facebook PageHemmings House Pictures (Filmmakers)
Coolest Blog: Saint John Ale House- Peter Stoddart (Local restaurant)
Best Use of Social Media in a Campaign: Mel Norton Campaign for Common Council (City Councillor)

After the event, a few of us including Kate (O My Heart!) and Kiera (Je Suis Prest Boutique) headed downstairs to the pub for a drink and a bite to eat. I took advantage of being parked in a heated underground parking lot and shot my photos with the help of my trusty tripod afterwards!

The Outfit
  • Pink t-shirt: Joe Fresh Style (SJ, Jan '11)
  • Pants w/ suspenders: ASOS (ordered online, Jan '11)
  • Pearl necklace: Forever21 (Montreal, June '10)

This year has really been a year of growth for social media. More than ever people and businesses alike are looking to find information, seek entertainment and communicate via mediums such as blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube... I know they are a huge connection for me and my blog.

gone fishing...

I wanted to start out this post by announcing the winner of the free ticket to Silver Daisy Designs' Fashion Social!
Congrats to Dominique Leger!

Thanks to Kate for kindly providing the ticket. I hope to see you at the Canterbury Lounge (@ 7:30pm) next Thursday (March 3) for a little fashion based fun all while supporting a local girl's health. All proceeds from the Fashion Social will be going toward assisting with the travel and medical costs associated with her treatment. You can purchase tickets at Silver Daisy Designs on 80 King Street. (Psst. You can also visit BarbBarbBarb for another shot at winning a ticket!)

So earlier this week I was driving through Rothesay, running a few errands, when I spotted all the ice fishing shacks on the Kennebecasis River, right off of the Renforth Wharf. It's been a really long time, but sitting down by this wharf (even covered in snow) reminds me of the many early morning rowing practices I crawled out of bed for. I loved being out on that water, with no sounds other than our oars hitting the watter as the sun started to come up over the hill. But this time of year this is the popular spot of ice fishing in the area.

The Outfit
  • Top: American Eagle (SJ, Dec '09)
  • Pants: ASOS (ordered online, Jan '11)
  • Belt: American Eagle (SJ, 7-8 years ago)
  • Boots: Aldo (gifted from parents, Dec '09)
  • Necklace: gifted from Kristen (Dec '09)

These pants were a pair I recently ordered from ASOS overseas. I always get nervous with online shipping and whether the fit willl be quite right. Thankfully this pair, along with another pair of trousers, fit perfectly. What wasn't so great was the bill I was faced with (despite the fact I scored on free shipping). Canada Customs charged me 18% in duty and then 15.3% in GST (over 30% of the package's worth)! Yikes! Thankfully the postman turned over my package and showed me what form to fill out to appeal the cost. Have any of you been hit with such high costs with international packages?

five foreshadows for spring

Despite the fact that we're buried under abour 3 feet of snow, and I was stranded in my house today due to the fact that I couldn't get the car beyond the driveway...I can't stop mesmerizing about spring fashion. Perhaps it's just me longing for those days in the foreseeable future that I don't have to wear about 8 layers or cover my outfit with a parka. Maybe it's just excitement at the chance to sort through my closet...in preparation of "out with the old, in with the new" spring cleaning.

Here are 5 trends I'm forecasting for this spring:

No. 1
Warm Pinks
(corals, peaches)

No. 2
Florals
(ever-so classic)

No. 3
Lace
(a touch of feminine)

No. 4
Wide-Leg Trousers
(menswear-inspired)

No. 5
Platforms & Wedges
(sky-high sophistication)

So what styles and trends are you looking forward to this spring?

This Friday I had intended to host another giveaway...but we've just had to post-pone it until next week. I promise, this one's worth waiting for! Can't wait to reveal it to you all!
