military profile...

For ladies who caught onto the military and utilitarian trends this past fall, you'll be happy to know that they continue to be right-on trend for spring! You'll be able to mix your olives and khakis, your pocketed shirts and skinny cargo pants with lighter layers once the cold weather ceases and the snow starts to melt!

I love the versatility of this snap-up military green top I got from Mango last spring...depending on what I choose to pair it with, it's been suited for all seasons!

hand-me-downs...

It's not very often I get to benefit from a situation like this, but my sister bought a beautiful pair of purple pumps that just didn't end up fitting her properly. She gave up and kindly offered them to me, in mint condition! And that's how I inherited the.! As the eldest child I never got hand-me-downs. And while I'm certainly not complaining, there are definitely perks to taking on someone's pre-loved items.

And while we're on the topic, I believe I may have dropped a hint about Rhoda's earlier this week...again,  Kiera of Je Suis Prest Boutique has rounded up a bunch of fashionable ladies to sell our previously loved clothing at Rhoda's Flea Market. Since I purchased this Jack dress, I've only worn it on special occasions: a Christmas party, Christmas eve. Last week I threw this purple top underneath to dress it now and try for a more casual day-look. I've made this conscious effort lately to dress for how I want to feel. Don't know about you, but I always feel uplifted when I have an excuse to put on a pretty dress! I've decided that maybe I don't need an excuse!

Only 5 days away from Christmas! Have you finished all of your Christmas shopping?

Well, I certainly haven't...and I need to get on it! It's funny to think that for all 6 years I was in university, and away for most of that time, I didn't begin my Christmas shopping until sometime after Dec 20th when the assignments, the papers, and all my exams were all out of the way. And I was ok with that. I'd likely still be hunting down the perfect presents come Christmas Eve! But for some reason since entering "the real world" the pressure is on come the beginning of December to get the mission completed! When do you start your shopping? I started out strong in late November, and then got distracted with other festivities! So tonight is the night I have decided I will finish my shopping!

On a related note, I felt this outfit I wore last week was reminiscent of something an elf would wear...I don't know if it's just all the red (a colour I don't typically wear) or the abundance of stripes...but I feel like it'd just need some bells on my shoes and perhaps a green hat topped with a pom-pom and I'd be working in Santa's workshop making toys!

rain, rain go away...

I've lost track of how many consecutive days it's been raining now. I overheard a women at body pump class the other night say she saw Noah's Ark on her drive over to the gym. The first couple of days the temperature was at least warmer, but now the showers, interspersed with downpours, are accompanied by a nasty chilling wind. Hence why today's pictures were shot indoors....precipitation is really hindering choice for photo location. (What I am going to do once our typical Maritime winter hits...?)

On the up side of things, The Weather Network promises dry skies and perhaps a glimse of the sun today!

work wear...

So week before last I decided to photo log my outfits for a work week to post- I thought it would be a turn of pace since I usually only share my weekend style. My outfits usually reflect my mood or sometimes how much energy I had that day- most times when shop I try to buy pieces that would be appropriate for work (yay, business casual!)- aka. all bits are covered. That way I can justify cost per wear! But, of course, I can't wear those mini dresses or low cut tops to work, but it's nice to play it up a bit on a weekend social outting!

Why:

I had just bought this top the day before and I always love the feel of wearing something new! I'm never one of those girs who might buy something and find it in my closet months later with the tag on. New items are fresh and exciting to me!

The pants, although they are very form fitting, are amazing comfortable too (love pants that have a bit of elastic quality to them)! I was happy to see Friday, so I went colourful!
