sunday shopping...

Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend- whether you celebrated Canada Day or Independence Day (for my friends south of the border)! We hit up the boardwalk for a couple of beers for the countdown to Canada Day and then headed to Shediac the following afternoon to camp by Parlee Beach. This weekend marks the many of firsts for the summer- 1st camping trip, 1st trip to the beach, and 1st sun burn (ouch!).

These pictures were actually snapped about a week prior to the sun burn- as I do a lot of weekends, I spent some time shopping on that Sunday- but not for me! B's summer wardrobe has been in desperate need of replenishing so we hit up the limited number of spots you can buy men's apparel in this city.

The Outfit
  • Tank top: American Eagle (Fredericton, Summer '08)
  • Sweater: Aerie (Fredericton, Spring '09)
  • Shorter Necklace: Anne Marie Chagnon- Beckwith & Co. (SJ, July '08)
  • Feather necklace: H&M (Toronto, Sept '10)
  • Sandals: Steve Madden- The Urban Shoe Myth (SJ, June '11)
  • Skinny jeans: Seven- Envy (SJ, June '11)

These espadrilles I actually scored on sale at The Urban Shoe Myth. Shelley actually has a lot of spring stock marked down to 25% off- which is what I saved on these sandals. I had wanted them earlier in the season but didn't want to jump on them before sandal weather kicked in. Well, I ended up missing the boat and my size was sold out. However, I was lucky and Shelley reordered and I found my size on the sale rack that weekend!

Speaking of sales, have you noticed the new "Retail Therapy" tab at the top of the blog? Keeping you up to date of any sales, online or in-store, I've been updating the list daily just in case you happen to be in the mood to do some shopping!

the classic LBD...

Two weeks ago I attended a ladies' black dress party uptown with friends, ending the night at the Canterbury Lounge. One thing that is considered for all women to have in their closet in the little black dress (typically abbreviated to LBD). Given that, and my over-stuffed closet, can you believe that I only have one black dress...?

The Outfit
  • Dress- David Meister- Winners (Toronto, Sept '08)
  • Skinny belt- Joe Fresh Style (SJ, Jan '11)

  • Necklace- Anne Marie Chagnon (Montreal, June '09)
  • Headband- Splurge (Halifax, Jan '10)

In mentioning my over-stuffed closet, I plan to thin out some of my clothing in preparation for another round of Out with the Old, & In with the New at Rhoda's Flea Market on Sunday, February 20! Hope to see you out (whether you want to sell and/or browse- so mark your calendars ladies! Kiera has kindly offered to help me sort through and part with some of my items before the big day- this should be interesting!

je suis prest boutique's style challenge

I appologize, I know I promised a post on my shoe collection today, but I just needed one more day to finishing prepping the post...but in the meantime, I do have some pretty good news...

My favourite boutique placed two new shipments on their racks last week. I told Kiera that I wasn't going to have enough money to eat if she kept bringing in such pretty items!

If you're in regular attendance at Je Suis Prest Boutique, you'll be happy to know you can win a $100 gift certificate to the uptown boutique and as icing on the cake, you'll also get a one hour session with photographer Sean McGrath (value of $250)!

All you need to do is post a picture (or two) on Je Suis Prest Boutique's Facebook page wall up wearing your finest from the store before or on January 19 (2011). Select finalists will be choosen for everyone to vote on. On January 31, Kiera will tally the votes to determine the winning fashionista! Get all the details here.

Which leaves me to my dilemma...of my many outfit post I've done wearing items from Kiera's store, which one to enter..!

Last week I wore an outfit featuring a new spring item at Je Suis Prest Boutique: a Jack BB Dakota jean dress:

santa's helper...

Only 5 days away from Christmas! Have you finished all of your Christmas shopping?

Well, I certainly haven't...and I need to get on it! It's funny to think that for all 6 years I was in university, and away for most of that time, I didn't begin my Christmas shopping until sometime after Dec 20th when the assignments, the papers, and all my exams were all out of the way. And I was ok with that. I'd likely still be hunting down the perfect presents come Christmas Eve! But for some reason since entering "the real world" the pressure is on come the beginning of December to get the mission completed! When do you start your shopping? I started out strong in late November, and then got distracted with other festivities! So tonight is the night I have decided I will finish my shopping!

On a related note, I felt this outfit I wore last week was reminiscent of something an elf would wear...I don't know if it's just all the red (a colour I don't typically wear) or the abundance of stripes...but I feel like it'd just need some bells on my shoes and perhaps a green hat topped with a pom-pom and I'd be working in Santa's workshop making toys!

The Outfit
  • Red top- Matty M- Winners (Toronto, Dec '08
  • Striped top- American Eagle (SJ, Fall '09)
  • Brown pants- Ricki's (SJ, Dec '09)
  • Belt- American Eagle (SJ, 8-9 yrs ago)
  • Necklace- Anne Marie Chagnon- Beckwith & Co. (gifted from my parents, Dec '08)
  • Animal print flats- Nine West (Freeport, Nov '10)

Happy last minute shopping to those that are in the same boat as me! And to those who are even done all their wrapping, well I guess you can just kick back and enjoy your egg nog!

baby it's cold outside...

I don't think I've ever paired this top with bottoms other than a pair of leggings- just because of it's long, loose fitting nature. I try to fit loose tops with form fitting bottoms, just to have some shape to the ensemble. But since I've got a number of outfits left in the remix of 30 days, I am going to have to try something other than the usual formula to strength 30 items into 30 outfits!

That's one good point to this challenge I've been embarking on with 336 other bloggers that Kendi Skeen of Kendi Everyday started and arranged. The challenge of making your items stretch in your imagination and coming up with other combos and outfits that you may not have put together before: stretching outside the usual and still being stylish!

The Outfit

(Faux) leather jacket- La Classe Couture- Winners (Toronto, Sept '10)
Top- 03 Everly- Pseudio (SJ, Oct '10)
Black leggings- TNA- Aritzia (Toronto, Sept '08)
Booties- Aldo (Toronto, Sept '10)
Belt- Le Chateau (Halifax, Nov '07)
Long-sleeve tee- H&M (Toronto, Sept '10)
Necklace- Anne Marie Chagnon (Montreal, June '09)

The first...well, second...snow this season (the first occured very late on Halloween night and melted as the sun came up) I grabbed my camera and tripod, deciding it would be a good idea to catch the flurries in my outfit photo. I feel this outfit lacks a little creativity...perhaps a belt, but it was just one of those days where I needed to be out of the house quickly and the top priority I required of my outfit was comfort- my job often has me sitting on the floor, climbing under things; so really, a restricting outfit in anyway isn't practical. I wished I could wear more dresses and skirts day to day, but for the same reasons that doesn't really work out either! (Hence while I wittled my selection down to just one dress for my 30 items).

The Outfit

Military shirt- Mango (Toronto, June '10)
T-shirt- American Eagle (SJ, Oct '10)
Cords- American Eagle (
Shoes- Aldo (Halifax, Sept '10)
Necklace- Charm Diamond Center (gifted from B, May '10)

Can't believe this marks the last day on November! Since the Holidays draw closer, Ive converted my shopping wishlist (see the tabs at the top of the page) into my Christmas wish list!

gale gusts...

This morning I'm up bright and early for a trip across the border for my one shopping day this month. We're heading to Portland and Freeport in Maine. I figure I'll get a jump start on my Christmas shopping. There's nothing in particular that I'm personally on the hunt for, but I find peace in even browsing- it's my version of meditation...

First on my agenda on Friday will be to obtain tickets to both fashion shows in Saint John next week. Wednesday, November 17, Market Square is hosting their fashion event, Viva La Diva, in support for the Canadian Cancer Society, The evening of Thursday, November 18, marks an event I've very much been looking forward to: Je Suis Prest Boutique's Holiday Fashion Party at the Canterbury Lounge in support of the Coverdale Center for Women.

These outfit photos were taken inside again due to the massive winds we were having today- I was certain that they would knock over my tripod and carry it away if I was to be as bold as to try and shoot my photos outdoors! On the upside of things, it finally stopped raining yesterday!

The Outfit

Sheer top- Gentle Fawn- Je Suis Prest Boutique (SJ, Nov '10)
Brown t-shirt- American Eagle (SJ, Oct '10)
Brown cords- American Eagle (Ordered online, Winter '10)
Brown boots- Aldo (Christmas gift, Dec '09)
Necklace- Anne Marie Chagnon (Montreal, June '09)

Hope my fellow remixers are making out well with the 30 for 30 Fashion Challenge!

Look for 2 special posts coming up this weekend!

and they all fall down...

It was about time I caught some of the scenery our climate is famous for in my photos. Reds, yellows, oranges- it's like the trees are ablaze! To me it's a bittersweet moment: beautiful and picturesque, but also a forewarning that soon they'll fall, the snow will come and I will need to put on my hat and mittens! (I really prefer the seasons where I don't have to wear a thick coat...) I take it for granted I guess, but if I moved down south, guaranteed I'd miss the annual spectacle where mother nature is just showing off.

The Outfit

Ruffled cardigan- Kensie- Je Suis Prest Boutique (SJ, Feb '10)
Leggings- TNA (Toronto, May '09)
Top- 03 EverlyPseudio (SJ, Oct '10)
Booties- Aldo (Toronto, Sept '10)
Chain belt- Baubles (SJ, Spring '08)
Necklace- Anne Marie Chagnon (Montreal, June '09)

You'll also notice I actually wore my glasses during the photoshoot. Typically I only wear them on days when I'll be starring at the computer screen for prolonged periods or if I'm just at home relaxing. Today was just one of those days where my eyes needed a break.

casual fare...

Sometimes on a relaxed Sunday, nothing's better than good old-fashioned denim paired with a tee. Comfortable and relaxed, perfect for a prolonged period sitting in the passenger side of the Grand Am. A week prior to this past Sunday, Ben and I headed out for a country drive that started out with a Starbucks latte in hand and included a stop at Kredl's out in Hampton for ice cream!

The Outfit:
  1. "The Greatest City" t-shirt- American Eagle (April '10)
  2. Grey, white and green scarf- American Eagle (Summer '09)
  3. Jean bermuda shorts- American Eagle (Spring '08)
  4. Polka dot flats- Keds (ordered online, Summer '08)
  5. Tote bag- Guess- TJMaxx
  6. Earrings- Anne Marie Chagnon- Beckwith & Co.
If you were looking for me this past Sunday morning, unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to Rhoda's Flea Market for the second go of "Out With The Old & In With The New". I hope the other ladies had good success in clearing their closets and that some of you were lucky in finding some new, previously loved, and fashionable finds! I was really disappointed I couldn't be there, but I guess that just means I'll all the more to share next time!

Also, I wanted to appologize in the gap between blog posts over the past week...taking on a change in my career has led to a busy schedule as I adjust to a new routine. I assure you, although my focus had to be else where in the past week, I'm back and my love for shopping, blogging, and all the finer things in life still remains strong!
