remix round-up 13-18

I have to say I've found remixing 30 items not only a wee bit limiting, but it has also been a challenge to keep in fresh and interesting. So I have to give kudos to Kendi who is on her 3rd round of the 30 for 30! Also, great job to all the fellow remixers- we're almost done and the mission almost complete!

So, looking at the upside of things, here are some of the great things so far that have come out of the remixing process:
  • I've come across interesting blogs in the process of checking out many of the 300-some participants.
  • I've also found a little inspiration from other fabulous bloggers (creative ways to layer, particular colours or patterns that caught my eye)
  • I've came up with a few new ideas of how to layer and tie accessories in
  • I have a greater appreciation for my wardrobe as a whole!

Coming up this week would be the rest of my outfits as well as a blog post on some of my favs from the crowd of remixers!

Mother Nature's mood swings...

The rain is seriously putting a damper on the Holiday cheer. Everytime it snows, it seems that Mother Nature follows up with a rainfall to wash the seasonal decor away. If it's not within a few hours, it'll happen within 24. I can maintain all the other decorations I have put up: the outdoor lights, the garland, the holly-adorned centerpiece; just not the finishing touch: the snow. Come on, it's the only time of the year I tolerate the otherwise evil S-word (haha). One day there's snow in the background of my pictures...the next day I need to seek shelter with my camera because it's raining cats and dogs...

I have to say, the 30 for 30 Challenge has indeed been a challenge for me! I tend to be running out the door last minute, and sometimes it's not as easy to throw an outfit together under pressure when you have a limited number to choose from- I've been doing my best but I'll be glad to include the rest of my wardrobe again soon!

So, fellow remixers, have you found it easier or harder assembling outfits with only 30 to choose from?

Holiday Look Book

Surrounding this time of the year, there is always a party to go to, holiday dinners, friends gathering together. Most of us love an opportunity to dress up and look our best. During the Holidays, there are multiple occasions that you are going to want to look fabulous and chic. I've pulled 30 of my favourite looks and trends to showcase for Holiday-wear. Just some of my personal favs I'd like to share!

In my opinion, this in one of the best times of the year: holiday cheer, the parties, get-togethers, goodies and egg nog with close friends and family. My favourite trend right now for the Holidays is the lady-like look, with feminine silhouettes, as well as glitter and metallics, rich hues, cozy neutrals, and hints of texture to boot.

Add some festivity to your ensemble through rich textures that have a luxurious appeal to them: satin, suede, sequins, fur, feathers, lace. I chose to display mostly skinny pants/leggings/jeggings for bottoms, because they tend to be of a stretchy, comfortable material that is great for being in relax mode but not sacrificing style. They are paired easily with billowy blouses, loose sweaters and lovely tunics. Comfortable pieces in soft neutrals are great for dinners, family gatherings, and gift exchanges.

For nights out and parties, I would suggest going for glam, chic look- an opportunity to wear a dress in a metallic sheen, a deep jewel tone, or a sport a new LBD. Accessorize and add a statement piece of jewelry (my favourite is a fabulous, bold necklace). Throw on coloured tights (if your dress is a neutral colour) or patterned hosiery and a finish the look with a fabulous pair of heels.

For outerwear, I've followed some of the major trend-lines: add instant glamour to an outfit with sequin details or some faux fur that will also keep you warm this time of year! A leather jacket is an easy way to add an "effortless cool" feel to an outfit that is casual or dressy.

For jewelry, I chose items that have shine, glitter, or a some other wow factor to them. It's the holidays- everything is either lit up or decorated to catch the eye!
These are just 30 items I might suggest- just a few ideas to try for mixing and matching with your current wardrobe! What are your favourite looks for the Holidays?
