mother earth...

I was so pumped when I opened my mailbox last week to find the package from We Love Colors I was awaiting. One of my style goals since stating my New Year's resolutions has been to try and incorporate more coloured tights into my outfits. Ever since seeing these rust coloured tights on Jen (of Jen Loves Kev)- I was intrigued to try them out myself! Kindly We Love Colors sent me a pair to style in my own way!

What do you wear with the colour burnt orange? I decided to go natural a la nature and pull in a metallic sheen for highlighting.

This outfit got a work-out Friday evening: a double date dinner with friends Chamila and Brent at new uptown restaurant Decimal 81 (which I will fondly give two thumbs up), followed by a house party at my friend Joel's, and then rounding out the night to see the awesome band Three Sheet at Peppers Pub. Comes to show you there is a lot you can do in an evening in uptown Saint John.

five foreshadows for spring

Despite the fact that we're buried under abour 3 feet of snow, and I was stranded in my house today due to the fact that I couldn't get the car beyond the driveway...I can't stop mesmerizing about spring fashion. Perhaps it's just me longing for those days in the foreseeable future that I don't have to wear about 8 layers or cover my outfit with a parka. Maybe it's just excitement at the chance to sort through my closet...in preparation of "out with the old, in with the new" spring cleaning.

Here are 5 trends I'm forecasting for this spring:

No. 1
Warm Pinks
(corals, peaches)

No. 2
Florals
(ever-so classic)

No. 3
Lace
(a touch of feminine)

No. 4
Wide-Leg Trousers
(menswear-inspired)

No. 5
Platforms & Wedges
(sky-high sophistication)

So what styles and trends are you looking forward to this spring?

This Friday I had intended to host another giveaway...but we've just had to post-pone it until next week. I promise, this one's worth waiting for! Can't wait to reveal it to you all!

parade of wedding dresses...

At the beginning of the month, I attended a wedding show at the Trade and Convention Centre hosted by Heavenly Gowns. You were able to walk around and talk with various wedding vendors...from decorators to bakers. My mom actually booked my chair covers that exact day. The event was concluded with a fashion show exhibiting Heavenly Gowns latest stock of beautiful gowns. So for the girls who are planning their wedding or any girl who has been planning their since their's childhood, here is a glance at the show and the cast of beautiful wedding gowns...

The dress I've choosen for my own big day was actually featured in the show..and so was my runner-up choice. Oddly, I didn't get a clear photo of either dress. So I suppose I'll have to wait until the wedding to share them with you. I found out some interesting news early this month when I by chance discovered that fellow style blogger Alicia of The Cheetah is the New Black shares the same upcoming wedding date: June 4!

On a related note be sure to check in on my wedding blog from time to time to see my latest inspirations while I plan my wedding!

an apple a day...

As I mentioned Monday, I braved the snow storm last Friday to check out the sale at The Black Dog Boutique. And, of course, I didn't leave empty-handed! Trying on clothing at this store is like going to visit Jill at her own place. It's a cozy spot with a great, attentive hostess! This Eve Gravel top was one of the purchases that I immediately fell in love with.

enlisting your assistance...

I was so honoured when the lovely Kiera Fraser (owner from the wonderful store I never stop talking about: Je Suis Pres Boutique) mentioned my blog and I in her latest article in KV Style: A few of my favourite things...some great local blogs provide great inspiration. Thank you Kiera for the kind shout-out. Also featured were fellow lovely bloggers Barb of barbbarbbarb.com and Kate of O My Heart!

And speaking of Kiera and Je Suis Prest: she has launched a style challange and competition for people to choose their favourite outfit out of ladies who have submitted their photo sporting goods adopted from Je Suis Prest!

Yours truly (along with 26 other stylish ladies) has entered the following outfit for the possibility to win a $100 gift certificate to Je Suis Prest Boutique in addition to a photo shoot with local photographer Sean McGrath!

Here's where I need your help: the winner will be picked January 31 based on popular vote! Please head to the Style Challenge Album (on the Je Suis Prest Boutique Facebook page- which you may need to "like" first) and comment on my picture to cast a vote for me! Your help would be beyond appreciated! I'll admit: I'm up against some stiff, but especially lovely, competition!

Florals in the Snow!

Friday afternoon we were hit with a raging blizzard...again. After being cooped up in the house for most of the day, I decided to brave the storm and head uptown for two very good reasons: an awesome sale and a Starbucks coffee date. I quickly browsed the racks at The Black Dog Boutique and then caught up with Kate from Silver Daisy Designs for talk over coffee. We then headed back across Germain together to try on a few lovely items from Jill's store. The Black Dog Boutique was offering 30% off all merchandise this past Friday and Saturday! Did you happen to score at this sale?

The Outfit

  • Crop sweater- Kersh- Pseudio (SJ, Dec '09)
  • Floral top/dress- Lush- Envy (SJ, Dec '10)
  • Jeggings- Guess- Envy (SJ, Dec '10)
  • Boots- Town Shoes (Halifax, Oct '07)
  • Necklace- gifted from Shannon  & Jess (Halifax, July '09)
  • Earrings- Banana Republic (Freeport, Nov '10)

I love versatile pieces like this top...or is it a dress? I've worn it as both. I suppose you could say it compares to a chameleon. On New Year's Eve I wore it as a dress paired with glitter tights and a black blazer. Here I sport it with a pair of jeggings for a casual and bitter cold day.

Don't forget today is the last day to take advantage of the discount code from LuLu*s, specially for Maritime Shopaholic readers! I've already got my picks choosen and ordered! Have you?

Hope your week is off to a great start!
