One thing that will stick out in people's minds from the NBFW event will be Andrea Cyr's impressive chainmaille skirt that paraded the runway. After 65 hours of work and 12 000 little rings, Andrea's creative show-piece was captivating.

Following this show-stopper were other jewellery pieces created by Andrea. You can get a better, close up look of her work via her Etsy shop. (The dream catcher earrings are my personal favourite!)

Samuel & Co. and Envy were two of the Market Square shops to fit the runway and showcase their fall fashions. My apologies to both stores- I do believe I had mixed them up in the photo album I posted on Facebook, as could be the case in the photo strip below. Nonetheless, they both featured pieces that could that many women were likely to put on their shopping list.

Kelly Ethridge, Silpada representative, also had her jewellery featured on the runway. Models were dressed in simple, but elegant black outfits that let the jewellery take centre stage.

Rowena's, located in Uptown Saint John, also gave a visual show of what's inside their independent boutique on Prince William Street. The beige dress below on model Stephanie was even sold through the Facebook photo album I posted! This is definitely a spot that I plan to visit in the near future- besides their affordable price range, what makes it even more appealing is that fact that they are next door to a cupcake shop (Piece O'Cake!)

Silver Daisy featured some of their latest pieces that had a colour pallete that popped! These items arrived in store just days before the show. To see these and even more fashionable pieces, be sure to join us tomorrow at the Lily Lake Pavillion for the 1st annual fashion show, a Sex & the City Soiree, to be hosted by Silver Daisy in which all proceeds are going to Hospice. You can get your tickets at the store on King Street! (There are a limited number of tickets left!)

Another Market Square store that displayed their wears on models strutting down the runway was Walsh Luggage. Among the goods they showed were hats, purses, scarves, gloves, and even an umbrella, as carried by model Vanessa below.

A newcomer to Saint John, Jockey also brought along their fall pieces to share on the runway. They also had a table set-up at the afternoon tradeshow.

And of course, I could recognize right away pieces that belong to the ever fashionable Je Suis Prest Boutique. A combination of looks that were business, cocktail, and causal on trend, there were numerous items that had me tempted.

During the retailer portion of the fashion show, the gorgeous footwear were a mix of beautiful shoes from Manchester Shoe Salon and The Urban Shoe Myth- both uptown favourites of mine.

The focus of a fashion week is always the designers, but the looks put on the runway by local merchants demonstrated how Saint John is on top of its game in offering on-trend fashion to women. Viva La Diva

Last month, Market Square hosted it's second fashion event this year. Entitled Viva La Diva, this event featured a food, drinks, and a fashion show, with all proceeds from the tickets and draws going to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Market Square Atrium was transformed into the Las Vegas strip that night. My date for the evening was friend and fellow blogger Barb.

The show was opened by the musical stylings an Elvis impersonator,

who tried his best to woo the ladies...

The fashion show was MC'ed by Normand Hector

and featured models from his agency, NWH Modelling.

The grand prize went to send a lucky lady who won a trip for 2 to Vegas!

But no one left empty handed. Various prizes (everything from store merchandise to a Tim Hortons coffee) were revealed by opening the lugguage tag we were each handed...

Well maybe it wasn't a trip to Vegas or a new pair of Paige jeans,

but it was something I actually needed!

So mark your calendars lovelies, the third week in November will have us attending back to back fashion shows in uptown Saint John!

Wednesday, November 17, is Market Square's fall fashion show entitled Viva La Diva. Tickets are $25 and are available from: Market Square Administration Office, Canadian Cancer Society, Element5, Envy, Manchester, Samuel & Co., Stylin’ Mama, and Walsh Luggage. And all proceeds will be going directly to an excellent cause: the Canadian Cancer Society.

Did I mention there's a grand prize trip for 2 to Vegas?

Then (the next night) on Thursday, November 18, you'll find me in a party dress at the Canterbury Lounge for Je Suis Prest Boutique's holiday fashion show! Manchester Shoe Salon is supplying the shoes, Hummingbird Medi Spa is doing make-up, and Hairacy's will be doing the hair. Tickets are $20 and will be sold at all participating locations. All proceeds will be going to the Coverdale Center for Women, another fantastic cause.

spring fling!

Last night I attended the Spring Fling fashion event in the Market Square atrium. The event, titled Project Runaway Saint John, was a fashion show and a fundraiser for the Saint John Boys & Girls Club. There was tables of hor d'oeuvres, cocktails, and wine, as well as a silent auction.

I managed to get a seat with a pretty good view to capture most of the models!

The program: 

Most of the shoes were from Manchester Shoes. Clothing from Envy and Samuel & Co. with purses from Walsh Luggage. Hair styles were also featured from Ambiance Day Spa.

(I'd identify the brand of the pieces and store but they weren't annouced specifically in the show unfortunately.)

The ladies who modeled in the fashion show looked like they were having a lot of fun!

Can't wait for the opening of Envy on May 15!

In the end, all the ladies in attendance received a prize!
